Installing & Managing Apps

Official guide · English · Version 9c253d0cf11816df

This page covers all three App Store lifecycles: linked integrations managed on dedicated settings pages, local apps managed by the App Store, and storefront templates synchronized with storefront design.

App Detail Page

Click any app card in the App Store to open its detail page.

Hero Section

The top of the detail page shows:

Element Description
Icon The app's logo or a category-based default icon.
Name The app's name.
Developer The developer or company that created the app.
Version The current version of the app.
Pricing Badge Shows the pricing model (Free, one-time cost, subscription, or included in plan).
Category The app's functional category.
Type Badge If the app is a template, a "Template" badge is displayed.
Short Description A brief summary of the app's purpose.
Action Button Opens the dedicated setup page for a linked integration, or installs/manages a local app or storefront template.

Tabs

The detail page has up to three tabs:

Tab Description
Overview The full description of the app, along with a sidebar showing developer info, version, website link, tags, and bundle information.
Screenshots App screenshots displayed in a grid. Only shown if the app has screenshots.
Configuration Non-sensitive local-app or template settings when the listing provides a configuration schema. For a required schema, this tab is also the pre-install form. Integration credentials are never stored here.

Configuring a Connected Integration

  1. Navigate to the integration detail page.
  2. Click Configure or Manage.
  3. Complete setup on the dedicated Channels, Checkout, Connections, Shipping, Storefront Integrations, or Search Console page.
  4. The App Store reads the real connection status and shows Active or Configured.

Info: API keys, tokens, passwords, and private keys are stored only by the dedicated encrypted integration service. App Store configuration rejects sensitive fields.

Installing a Local App

Warning: Local-plugin lifecycle tooling is currently for Draft/internal development. A local plugin is not published to the tenant catalog until a registered runtime consumer can enforce its activation state.

  1. Open the local app's detail page.
  2. Review its app dependencies. A minimum Required Plan is not available for a published App Store-managed item until runtime downgrade enforcement is implemented.
  3. If configuration is required, open Configuration, complete the non-sensitive required fields, and save. Saving this pre-install form installs the app with that configuration.
  4. If no pre-install configuration is required, click Install.
  5. Use the App Store to update configuration, activate or deactivate the app, or uninstall it.

Warning: Never put API keys, access tokens, passwords, private keys, or other credentials in a local App Store schema. Sensitive integrations belong on their dedicated encrypted setup page.

Activating a Storefront Template

  1. Open a template detail page.
  2. Complete the Configuration tab first if the template requires non-sensitive pre-install fields.
  3. Click Install or Activate (or save the required pre-install form).
  4. The template becomes the tenant's active Storefront theme and other App Store templates become inactive.
  5. Deactivating or uninstalling the current template safely falls back to another installed template or Modern.

Managing Installed Apps

Accessing Installed Apps

Navigate to Dashboard > App Store > Installed to see all apps currently installed on your account.

The installed apps page shows:

  • The total count of installed apps.
  • A link to Browse more apps in the store.

Installed App Cards

Each installed app is displayed as a row showing:

Element Description
Icon The app's logo or a category-based default icon.
Name Clickable -- opens the app's detail page.
Status Badge Shows whether the app is active (green) or inactive (gray).
Short Description A brief summary of the app.
Pricing Badge The pricing model and whether it is free via your plan.
Bundle Name If the app was installed as part of a bundle, the bundle name is shown.

Action Buttons

Actions depend on lifecycle type:

Button Icon Description
Manage integration Gear icon Opens the dedicated settings page. Enable, disable, or disconnect the integration there.
Configure local app/template Gear icon Opens its detail and non-sensitive Configuration tab.
Toggle local app/template Power icon Activates or deactivates an App Store-managed item. Template changes also synchronize the storefront theme.
Uninstall local app/template Trash icon Removes its App Store-owned record and configuration; template uninstall applies a safe fallback if necessary.

Activating and Deactivating Apps

App Store power controls apply to App Store-managed local apps and templates. Connected integrations must be enabled or disabled on their dedicated settings page so the displayed state and runtime state cannot diverge.

To Deactivate

  1. Go to Dashboard > App Store > Installed.
  2. Find the app you want to deactivate.
  3. Click the Power Off icon button.
  4. The app's status changes to inactive and its functionality is disabled.

To Reactivate

  1. Go to Dashboard > App Store > Installed.
  2. Find the deactivated app.
  3. Click the Power icon button.
  4. The app's status changes to active and its functionality is restored.

Info: Deactivating an app preserves its configuration. When you reactivate it, all settings are restored automatically.

Uninstalling an App

  1. Go to Dashboard > App Store > Installed.
  2. Find the app you want to uninstall.
  3. Click the Uninstall (trash) icon button.
  4. A confirmation dialog appears. Confirm to proceed.
  5. The app is permanently removed from your account.

Warning: Uninstalling an app permanently removes it along with its configuration. If you reinstall the app later, you will need to configure it again from scratch. If you only want to temporarily disable an app, use the deactivate option instead.

App Detail Sidebar

The Overview tab on the app detail page includes a sidebar with additional information:

Details Card

Field Description
Developer The name of the developer or company.
Version The current version number.
Website A link to the developer's website (opens in a new tab).

Tags

If the app has tags, they are displayed as small pills. Tags help categorize apps and describe their functionality (e.g., "payment", "shipping", "analytics").

Included in Bundles

If the app is part of one or more bundles, they are listed with:

  • The bundle name (clickable -- opens the bundle detail page).
  • The discount percentage offered by the bundle.

This helps you discover whether the app is available through a compatible published bundle.

Troubleshooting

Integration is not active Open its dedicated setup page and verify its real connection/test status.
Credentials are rejected in App Store Configure secrets on the dedicated encrypted settings page.

Bundle no longer shows fully installed One of its bundle-owned apps may have been deactivated or uninstalled individually. Open the bundle to review the remaining items.
