Shipping Zones and Destination Restrictions

Use Shipping > Zones to group destinations and assign carriers/pricing rules. Use Shipping > Restrictions to block destinations your business cannot serve.

Before you start

Configure at least one carrier, accurate product weight/dimensions and your intended dispatch region. Decide which destinations are supported. A configured zone does not guarantee a carrier actually serves every address; live rates and carrier eligibility still matter.

Create a zone

  1. Open Zones and create a zone with a recognizable name and optional description.
  2. Select its pricing type and supply the relevant base cost, markup type/value, priority and active status.
  3. Save and expand the zone.
  4. Add a destination pattern: country, postcode prefix or the range fields offered for the selected pattern type.
  5. Save the pattern and verify its country and boundaries.
  6. Assign an available carrier using the zone's carrier action and complete its offered settings.
  7. Repeat for additional patterns/carriers, then test representative addresses.

Do not use overlapping patterns without checking the resulting rate selection. Priority is part of zone configuration; verify the actual quote rather than assuming how a tie will resolve. Deleting a pattern, assignment or zone can change which shipping options customers receive.

Add a destination restriction

  1. Open Restrictions and add a country.
  2. Select whether it is blocked and choose the reason type.
  3. Enter a clear reason consistent with your delivery policy.
  4. Save and inspect the saved country entry.
  5. Test both a restricted and an allowed address through the normal rate/checkout workflow.

Remove a restriction only when the business can serve the destination. A restriction setting is not legal advice or a carrier service commitment.

Verify and troubleshoot

No rate: check country/postcode match, active zone, carrier assignment, carrier credentials, restrictions and package measurements. Unexpected price: compare base cost and markup with the carrier quote and product-specific rules. Missing zone actions may indicate role or module access limitations.

Use Carriers for credential/rate tests and Product Shipping Rules for overrides. Do not purchase a shipping label merely to test whether a screen opens.
