Official guide · English · Version 9c253d0cf11816df
This guide walks you through creating your DirectSale account, verifying your email, and completing the initial setup so you can start using the platform.
Creating Your Account
To register a new account, navigate to the registration page at /register.
Registration Form Fields
The registration form requires the following information:
| Field | Description | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Store Name | The name of your business or store. This will be displayed throughout the dashboard and can be changed later in settings. | Required. Any text value. |
| Your business email address. This will be used for login, notifications, and email verification. | Required. Must be a valid email format. | |
| Mobile number | A private owner contact for future email and password recovery. | Required. Include your country calling code, for example +44 7400 123456. |
| Password | Your account password. | Required. Minimum 8 characters. |
| Confirm Password | Re-enter your password to prevent typos. | Required. Must match the password field exactly. |
Step-by-Step Registration
- Navigate to the registration page (
/register). - Enter your Store Name in the first field. This is the name customers and team members will see. Choose something that represents your business.
- Enter your Email address. Use an email you have access to, as you will need to verify it.
- Enter your Mobile number, including the country calling code. Spaces and local-script decimal digits are accepted; the number is saved in international format.
- Enter a Password with at least 8 characters. Use a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols for better security.
- Re-enter your password in the Confirm Password field.
- Click the Sign Up button.
Info: Your mobile number is collected for future email and password recovery. Mobile verification and recovery through this number are not available yet. The number remains unverified, and no mobile verification code is sent. Platform administrators can see it below your email in the Stores list; it is not your public storefront contact number.
Info: If you were directed to registration from a pricing page, your selected plan is retained and you continue to Billing after signup. Selecting a paid plan does not grant its access before checkout is completed.
What Happens After Registration
When you click Sign Up, the following happens behind the scenes:
- Your account (tenant) is created on the platform.
- Access tokens are generated and stored in your browser.
- You are automatically logged in and redirected to the dashboard.
- A verification email is sent to the email address you provided.
Warning: After registration, your account is created but your email is not yet verified. Some features may be restricted until you complete email verification. Check your inbox (and spam/junk folder) for the verification email.
Email Verification
After registering, you will receive an email containing a verification link. Clicking this link confirms that you own the email address associated with your account.
How to Verify Your Email
- Open the email from DirectSale in your inbox. Check your spam or junk folder if you do not see it.
- Click the verification link in the email.
- You will be taken to the verification page (
/verify-email?token=...). - The page will show a loading spinner while it processes your verification.
- On success, you will see a green checkmark and a confirmation message: "Email Verified".
- You will be automatically redirected to the login page after 3 seconds.
Verification Statuses
| Status | What You See | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Loading | A spinning loader with "Verifying email..." | Wait for the process to complete. |
| Success | A green checkmark with "Email Verified" | You will be redirected to login automatically. |
| Error | A red X with "Verification Failed" | The link may be expired or invalid. Click "Go to Login" and request a new verification email. |
Warning: Verification links expire after a set period. If your link has expired, log in to your account and look for an option to resend the verification email from the settings page.
Signing In with Social Accounts
In addition to email/password registration, DirectSale supports social login for faster onboarding.
Available Social Login Options
| Provider | Button | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Blue "Continue with Facebook" button | Uses your Facebook account for authentication. | |
| White "Continue with Google" button | Uses your Google account for authentication. |
Social login buttons appear on the login page (/login). If you registered with email and password but want to link a social account later, you can do so from your account settings.
Info: Social login creates an account automatically if one does not exist for the associated email address. If an account already exists with that email, the social login will be linked to the existing account.
New accounts created with Google or Facebook must complete the mobile number form before continuing in the dashboard. Saving the number returns you to your intended dashboard page. Existing accounts and invited team members are not required to add a mobile number in this release.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
For enhanced security, DirectSale supports two-factor authentication. When 2FA is enabled on your account, the login process requires an additional verification step.
2FA Methods
| Method | Description |
|---|---|
| TOTP (Authenticator App) | Use an authenticator app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password to generate time-based codes. |
| Email OTP | Receive a one-time code via email. |
Logging In with 2FA
- Enter your email and password on the login page and click Sign In.
- If 2FA is enabled, you will see a security screen with a shield icon and the title "Two-Factor Authentication".
- Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app or email.
- Optionally, check "Trust this device" to skip 2FA on this device for future logins.
- Click Verify.
If you have both TOTP and email methods enabled, you can switch between them by clicking the "Try another method" link below the verify button.
Info: You can enable or configure 2FA from the Settings > Security tab in your dashboard after logging in. See the Settings documentation for details.
Accepting a Team Invitation
If you have been invited to join an existing store on DirectSale, you will receive an invitation email with a unique link instead of going through the standard registration process.
How to Accept an Invitation
- Open the invitation email and click the invitation link.
- You will be taken to the "Join the Team" page (
/auth/accept-invitation?token=...). - The page will display:
- The store name you have been invited to
- The role assigned to you (e.g., Admin, Manager, Operator, Viewer)
- Your email (pre-filled and cannot be changed)
- Fill in the following fields:
| Field | Description | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Display Name | The name your team will see when you perform actions in the dashboard. | Optional. Pre-filled from the invitation if set. |
| Password | Choose a password for your account. | Required. Minimum 8 characters. |
| Confirm Password | Re-enter your password. | Required. Must match. |
- Click "Accept & Create Account".
- On success, you will see a welcome screen with a green checkmark, and you will be automatically redirected to the dashboard within 1.5 seconds.
Invitation Errors
| Error | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "Invalid Invitation" | The invitation link is malformed or missing. Contact your team admin. |
| "Invalid or Expired Invitation" | The invitation has expired or has already been used. Ask your admin to send a new one. |
| "Passwords do not match" | The password and confirm password fields do not match. |
| "Password must be at least 8 characters" | Your password is too short. |
Resetting Your Password
If you can sign in and know your current password, open Settings > Security to change it. If you cannot sign in, contact platform support for account-access assistance. Self-service recovery using your mobile number is not available yet; collecting the number does not enable email changes or password resets.
Password Requirements
- Minimum length: 8 characters
- The password and confirm password fields must match exactly
- There is a toggle button (eye icon) to show or hide the password while typing
Troubleshooting Registration Issues
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| "Passwords do not match" error | Make sure both the password and confirm password fields contain the exact same text. |
| "Password must be at least 8 characters" | Choose a longer password. |
| Invalid mobile number | Include the international country calling code, followed by your full number. Do not enter an extension. |
| "Registration failed" error | This could be due to a duplicate email (an account with this email already exists) or a server issue. Try a different email or try again later. |
| No verification email received | Check your spam/junk folder. Make sure the email address you entered is correct. Try requesting the verification email again from your settings. |
| Verification link expired | Log in to your account and request a new verification email from settings. |
| Social login not working | Ensure pop-ups are not blocked in your browser. Try a different browser if the issue persists. |
