Google Search Console Connection and SEO Evidence

Official guide · English · Version 9c253d0cf11816df

Use Storefront > Search Console to connect your site's search-performance data. This is separate from adding a verification tag in Storefront Integrations.

Before you start

Use a Google account authorized for the site's Search Console property. Verify the correct domain/property in Google first. An unrelated property may connect successfully but will not describe your current storefront. Search Console reports observed traffic; it is not a market-wide keyword-volume service.

Connect and inspect

  1. Open Search Console from the Storefront section.
  2. Start the Google connection and review the requested authorization.
  3. Select the property matching the site's real domain.
  4. Return to the panel and confirm the property/connection state.
  5. Choose the available reporting period and inspect clicks, impressions, CTR and position, together with query and page data.
  6. Open a specific query/page where offered and compare its URL with the published product or page.
  7. Return after Google has collected data; a new or low-traffic property may have no rows.

Understand the metrics

  • Impressions: observed search appearances for the selected data range.
  • Clicks: visits attributed to those search results.
  • CTR: clicks relative to impressions, not checkout conversion.
  • Position: the reported search-position metric, not a guaranteed rank.

Missing queries do not prove there is no demand. Date ranges, property permissions, recent publication, indexing and reporting delays affect available data.

Use evidence in content generation

In SEO + AI, inspect the evidence status before approving a keyword brief. When Search Console is not connected or has no suitable evidence, suggestions can use saved product/page facts instead. Review the proposed primary phrase against other pages and products in the tenant SEO section. Supporting terms can be shared; avoid forcing unrelated unique phrases.

See Product SEO + AI and Page/Blog SEO + AI. Apply/save behavior differs between the product pilot and the page editor.

Verification and troubleshooting

Confirm the selected property and period before comparing reports. If authorization expires, reconnect using the authorized Google account. If no property is offered, check ownership/access in Google. If a page is missing, confirm its canonical public URL and publication status; a private preview is not an indexable public site. Connection and keyword suggestions do not guarantee indexing, rankings or future AI citations.
