Editing Products
Official guide · English · Version 9c253d0cf11816df
DirectSale provides multiple ways to edit your products: inline editing directly in the product table for quick changes, the full edit dialog for comprehensive updates, and bulk actions for updating multiple products at once.
Inline Editing
Several fields can be edited directly in the product table without opening a dialog. This is the fastest way to make quick adjustments.
Inline Price Editing
Click on any product's price in the table to activate inline editing:
- Click the displayed price -- it becomes an editable text input
- Type the new price (supports comma-formatted numbers like 1,299.00)
- Press Enter to save, or Escape to cancel
- Clicking outside the field also saves the change
Info: The change is applied optimistically -- the UI updates immediately while the API request is sent in the background. If the save fails, the original value is restored automatically.
Inline Sale Price Editing
When a product has Festival Mode enabled, a sale price field appears below the regular price:
- Click on the sale price (or the "Add sale price" text if none is set)
- Enter the sale price as a fixed amount
- Click the % button to switch to percentage mode, then enter a discount percentage
- In percentage mode, the calculated final price is shown below the input
- Press Enter to save
Inline Stock Status
Change a product's stock status using the dropdown in the Status column:
- In Stock (green indicator)
- Out of Stock (red indicator)
- Limited (yellow indicator)
- Coming Soon (blue indicator)
Coming Soon Quick Configuration
When you select Coming Soon, a configuration dialog opens where you can set:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Available Date | When the product will be available |
| Pre-order Enabled | Toggle to allow pre-orders |
| Payment Type | Full payment or Deposit |
| Deposit Percent | Required deposit percentage (if deposit mode is chosen) |
Click Save to apply the coming soon settings.
Estimated Delivery Days
For products with In Stock or Limited status, click the delivery time link below the status dropdown to set estimated delivery days. A small dialog appears where you enter the number of days.
Inline AI Rank
The AI Rank column shows two clickable elements:
- Suggestion Rank -- the circular badge with a number (0-20). Click to open a dropdown and select a new rank
- Quality Rating -- the smaller badge below with an award icon. Click to change the quality rating (0-20 or "Not set")
Changes are saved immediately when you select a new value.
Inline Festival Toggle
In the Actions column, the party popper icon toggles Festival Mode on/off for each product:
- Red button means festival mode is active
- Gray/ghost button means festival mode is inactive
- Click to toggle the state
Full Edit Dialog
For comprehensive editing, click the pencil icon in the Actions column to open the full edit dialog. This dialog contains all the same fields as the Add Product form, plus additional features:
Variant Management
The Variant Manager section appears at the bottom of the edit dialog for existing products. See Product Variants for details.
Shipping Override
An additional Shipping Override section appears for existing products:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Free Shipping | Check to offer free shipping on this specific product, overriding your store's default shipping policy |
| Fixed Shipping Cost | Set a fixed shipping cost for this product. Leave empty to use your store's default shipping rules |
Info: Shipping overrides only apply to individual products. They take priority over your store-wide shipping configuration.
Saving Changes
Click Save Changes at the bottom of the dialog. The product will be updated and the product list will refresh automatically.
Bulk Actions
Select multiple products using the checkboxes in the leftmost column of the product table. A bulk actions toolbar appears above the table.
Select Products
- Click the checkbox next to individual products to select them
- Click the checkbox in the header row to select/deselect all products on the current page
- The toolbar shows how many products are selected
Available Bulk Actions
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Delete | Permanently delete all selected products. A confirmation dialog appears before deletion |
| Change Status | Set the stock status of all selected products to In Stock, Out of Stock, Limited, or Coming Soon |
| Feature | Mark all selected products as featured (they will be highlighted in your storefront) |
| Unfeature | Remove the featured flag from all selected products |
| Reprocess AI | Re-run the AI processing pipeline on all selected products (useful if processing failed or you want to update embeddings) |
| Clear | Deselect all products |
Complete the Action
Click the desired action button. For destructive actions like Delete, a confirmation prompt appears. A loading spinner is shown while the operation is in progress.
Build URLs from Names
Use Build URLs from names in the top Products toolbar to replace selected products' imported links with local product paths. Include all categories in your account if their paths also need updating, or update categories independently. The preview includes active and inactive categories.
Paths keep each name's original language and script, without AI or AI credits.
For example, برند موتور برق becomes /categories/برند-موتور-برق.
Spaces and punctuation become hyphens; duplicate names receive a numeric suffix.
Names without usable letters or numbers are skipped.
Review the current and proposed URLs, then click Save URLs. Original imported product links are retained separately, and previous local product/category paths continue to resolve to their new canonical pages. The operation supports up to 500 selected products and 1,000 categories at a time. Refresh the preview if an item or website changes before saving.
A website is not required to save paths. With an active VPS website or a published DirectSale website, links use its domain. Without one, relative paths are saved and become public when the website is published. This action does not publish a website or make inactive products public.
The Product URL field displays and saves the generated relative path even without a published website. Earlier batches that left this field empty display the existing slug's path when you reopen the product. Run the URL action again to repair those stored empty values. Relative paths are not clickable on the dashboard hostname; full website URLs remain clickable.
Page Builder
Click the palette icon in the Actions column to navigate to the Page Builder for a specific product. The Page Builder allows you to design a custom product page layout for your storefront.
The Template library includes visual and technical product-story layouts. Each section's Appearance & layout settings can add scroll-linked motion or pin a feature beside longer content. Review these effects in the storefront preview, then publish the layout when ready.
Deleting a Product
To delete a single product:
- Click the trash icon in the Actions column
- Confirm the deletion in the prompt that appears
- The product is permanently removed from your catalog
Warning: Deleting a product is permanent and cannot be undone. The product will also be removed from the AI chatbot's knowledge base and your storefront.
