Receivables and Payables Aging

Official guide · English · Version 9c253d0cf11816df

Open Accounting > Reports > Aging to inspect outstanding customer receivables and supplier payables by age. This is a report, not a payment action.

Before you start

Enter invoices, due dates, payments and adjustments accurately. Select a meaningful as-of date. Drafts, missing payment allocations or incorrect due dates can make the report differ from your expectations.

Read the report

  1. Open Aging and choose the As of date.
  2. Select receivables (AR) for money customers owe, or payables (AP) for money owed to suppliers.
  3. Inspect summary totals and the age buckets shown in the table.
  4. Identify the relevant contact and compare the reported balance with its invoices and payments.
  5. Review older balances first and investigate credits or unapplied payments before following up.

Aging groups outstanding balances relative to the reporting date and due-date information. It does not tell you that a bank transfer has arrived or automatically remind a customer.

Verify and troubleshoot

Use the same as-of date when comparing contact statements and other reports. If a paid invoice remains outstanding, inspect the saved payment and its allocation rather than marking it paid again. If a supplier/customer is missing, confirm there was an outstanding eligible balance at the selected date.

Correct underlying transactions using their normal approval/posting workflow, then reload the report. Do not edit a displayed total as a substitute for a source-document correction.
