The Treasury module manages your business's bank accounts, cash funds, and online wallets. It provides a central place to track where your money is held, record deposits and withdrawals, and maintain accurate cash positions across all your financial accounts.

Accessing Treasury

Navigate to Dashboard > Accounting > Treasury > Treasury.

Bank Account Types

The system supports three types of treasury accounts:

Type Description
Bank A traditional bank account (checking, savings, or business account).
Cash A physical cash fund (petty cash, cash register, cash drawer).
Online Wallet A digital payment account (PayPal, Stripe balance, digital wallet).

The Bank Accounts List

The treasury page displays all your configured bank accounts. Each account shows:

Bank Name The name of the financial institution (for bank-type accounts).
Account Number The bank account number.

Editing a Bank Account

Click the edit button on any account. The dialog opens pre-filled with the current values. Modify any field and click Save.

Automatic Transactions

Some transactions are created automatically by the system:

Credit Note Application When a credit note is applied with a bank account selected, a withdrawal (refund) transaction is created.
Debit Note Application When a debit note is applied, a deposit (supplier refund) transaction is created.

These automatic transactions appear in the transaction list just like manual entries and are included in the account balance.

Multiple Currencies

Each bank account can be assigned a specific currency. This is useful for businesses that:

  • Maintain accounts in multiple currencies (e.g., USD and EUR accounts)
  • Receive payments in foreign currencies
  • Need to track currency-specific balances

The transaction amounts are recorded in the account's currency.

Tips for Treasury Management

  • Set up all your real-world accounts -- Create a treasury account for every bank account, cash fund, and digital wallet your business uses.
  • Use the opening balance -- Enter your actual current balance when setting up each account to ensure accuracy from day one.
  • Record transactions promptly -- Keep your treasury balances up to date by recording transactions as they occur.
  • Designate a default account -- Set your primary business account as the default so it is pre-selected in payment and transaction dialogs.
  • Use references consistently -- Include check numbers, transfer IDs, or receipt numbers in the reference field for easy matching during bank reconciliation.
  • Reconcile regularly -- Use the Bank Reconciliation feature to match your treasury transactions against bank statements.
  • Separate business from personal -- Use the Cash type for petty cash funds and ensure they are tracked separately from bank accounts.
